It's Christmas Christmas Christmas

Wow has this year flown by!!!!! I still can't believe we only have 4 1/2 more days until Christmas break!! We started off our week by reading The Christmas Story and learning all about the true reason we celebrate Christmas.

In the afternoon we worked on size sorting by organizing our rectangles from smallest to largest to create a Christmas tree.

On Tuesday we followed a glyph to create some unique Christmas Elves.

Then in the afternoon we made some giant snowmen that spelled out our names.  We started by creating their faces and then each table had to search through a pile of letters to find the letters in their name (remembering to start with a capitol letter).

On Wednesday we started off our day with some magical Christmas lights.  Each student was given a set of Christmas lights and they used water colors to paint each light and when they did something magical happened and letters started to appear and they spelled their names.
Later in the day we followed another glyph to create some cute little reindeer.
On Thursday we made some angelic angels

And on  Friday we held our annual Christmas program where we sang some Christmas songs for all of our families. I didn't remember to snap any pictures, but believe me when I tell you my babies were absolutely precious!

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Christmas break!!

Lions, Witches, and Bevers Oh My!

A few curious people came to visit us at school the other day! There was a lion, a witch, some beavers, a faun, and some very special sons of Adam and daughters of Eve.

A very special mama took us to a magical forest all the way from the Spare Oom in the city of War Drobe. I am still amazed at the magical way they utilized all of the sets especially the way they used some blue fabric to create a river underneath a beavers dam.

Thank You Thank You Thank You Mrs. Brame for taking us on this magical journey and I am just sad I don't have any pictures to share of this magical journey we went on.

Goodbye Mr. Bear, Hello Mr. Elf

Mrs. Douglas is kind of awesome because she made this little piece of Christmas awesomeness!

Winter Animals and Advent

This week we did a little something different and we continued the letter W because we couldn't miss out on learning about Winter Animals. Usually we spend 1 week on each letter but we decided to extend this one since W is such a fascinating letter. We learned about Penguins, Polar Bears and Walrus.

Once again we had another Wild and Crazy week with a the Christmas Program on Wednesday and the Christmas Bazaar and Shop on Friday, but we just rolled with the punches like we always do. Being flexible is one of the skills we are working on down in 4k land so it it important for us teachers to also be flexible.

We started off our week by learning a little more about penguins and we learned that most penguins live where it is hot and we learned that Emperor Penguins can be as tall as a 4 year old. We decided to test this and we measured ourselves next to an Emperor Penguin (don't worry it was just a very life like replica I drew with some colored pencils). We decided to use this information to make our very own little penguins.

Fun Fact: Did you know a Polar Bear has black skin and their fur is actually clear?!?! So they actually look a little yellow instead of true white. The snow that surrounds them is what makes them look white.
The More you know people!
I guess some polar bears have long luscious eyelashes too.

Now that we are in the season of Advent we needed to do something to help us count down to the special day of Jesus's Birthday. We made Advent Wreaths with the numbers 1-25 on it and each day we write the number or numbers if we need to make up for the weekend and we locate those numbers on our wreath and add the berries on. Everyone has done an awesome job writing their numbers each day and they are so excited to reach the big day!

For jobs this week we started off working on a number workbook to continue working on our amazing number writing skills.

We used a 12 sided dice to roll and locate the number on the fish and color it in.

We made a lowercase w walrus.

And last but not least everyone worked on their ABC order skills by placing their Alphabet Penguins in order.

We had 1 more special surprise Friday. Corinne's daddy came to visit and read The Grinch!

I hope everyone is getting ready for the dazzling display of Christmas spirit their eyes will view next Friday! My friends have been working so hard on learning all of our Christmas songs and they have been jingling their little hearts out!!!!

Happy Birfday To You Cha Cha Cha

Holy Moly this has been one of the best birthdays ever!! Besides all of the sweet birthday wishes yesterday I get to school today totally oblivious to all of the amazing secrets everyone was keeping! I still can't believe my babies didn't say a word about the awesome pajama party we were having today.

I know I say every year I can't imagine loving a class as much as I do the previous year, but I guess each new class is like having another child and your heart just makes a little more room for each one. And it isn't just the students who I love but the parents are pretty great themselves.  I feel so special and so loved knowing how much effort went into decorating, planning, and putting everything together for little ole me.

I feel like such a dunce because like usual I came into my room like a hurricane this morning and was even more crazy since we were out Friday because of the icepocolipse 2013 and I couldn't remember where I put anything. Thankfully as I was running around Mrs. Nicole made me slow down and notice the amazing decorations one of my amazing room moms had put up.
There were banners, balloons, and streamers.

Soon all of my babies started arriving and slowly I started to realize everyone was wearing pajamas and I started to panic because I thought I ha forgotten about something and I didn't any to say anything bout Mrs. Douglas's polka dotted pants. Thankfully another one of my room moms arrive ditch a sweet surprise of my very on pair of pajamas
and she revealed the secret of my birthday spa day. All of my sweet babies had kept the secret of the big surprise even after things got a little crazy with school being canceled Friday.

I can honestly say I have never felt so loved in my life! I wish everyone could say they love their job as much as I do, but they don't have 20 little people telling you how much they love you and telling you hilarious stories everyday.

Love you little people!!!!!!!

Some of you may have already heard these songs a few times from your precious little ones, but don't worry if you haven't you will definitely be hearing them tonight during homework time and you are very welcome because you will definitely have it stuck in your head for days = )

We of course have been learning all about the weather this week and we have been so lucky to have enjoyed a variety of different weather (thanks Memphis for being so bipolar).

Monday we kicked off our weather week with some really cool foggy weather. This was perfect because we learned all about clouds this day. We read a book called what else but Weather. After learning all about the different types of weather we read It Looked Like Spilt Milk. After reading the story and finding out the picture wasn't really spilt milk, an angel, a great horned owl it was a cloud! We all layed on the floor and pretended we were cloud watching and everyone told us what kind of cloud they saw. Next we made some really cool cloud pictures by folding our paper in half like a taco and squishing some white paint in the middle. When we opened up our papers everyone had something very unique and then they used their imaginations to tell us what their picture looked like. We were pretty impressed with what each student came up with!

We will be using our weather pictures each day to create a weather book my friends can bring home and "read" to you so be looking for some super cool weather books by the end of the week.

On Tuesday we created our own unique snowflakes. They were all so different and beautiful because no two snowflakes look the same. We also talked about the fun weather we may or may not get on Thursday and Friday. We all know how Memphis weather can be so we shall see what really happens. You know if they are already talking about it on Monday there is a string possibility it will just miss us.

On Wednesday we read Wind and  all of my friends water colored their own kites to fly in the windy sky.

Thursday we read Puddles and learned all about rainy weather and made tissue paper raindrops and later in the day we made sun catcher tissue paper suns.
(Pictures to come)

For jobs this week we made a Watermelon W

We searched for the letter Ww

We created snowmen by matching the same hat color, eye color, the color word written in the color, and then they had to find the color word written in black and white.

And since we have been working so hard in uppercase an lowercase letter recognition we mother some lowercase letter rainbows with some uppercase cloudy letters.

What a great week to learn about weather! We even had a "snow" day! It was more of an hey we may get some snow/ice so lets stay home and snuggle. I missed all of my babies but I sure enjoyed snuggling with my own baby all day!

Gobble Till You Wobble

Snce our week got cut short because of a wonderful Health Insurance meeting we decided to just have some fun this week.

We needed something to wear for our feast later in the day so we made some super cute Turkey hats.

The week before we made these cute Thanksgiving place mats so we used those to set our table and decorated with the cute toilet paper turkeys the kiddos had made in art class.

I think everyone enjoyed our Thanksgiving Feast. We had so many yummy foods to share.

Tuesday we thought it would be fun just to have a relaxing day and just have some fun so we read a few Thanksgiving books and watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

I just want to say how Thankful I am for each and everyone of my babies and I am especially thankful for Mrs. Ann and Mrs. Caroline. Our classroom is so amazing and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else than with you guys each and everyday!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
